Are you a talented and passionate individual with a flair for the theater? We are collaborating with one of its leading clients to offer an exciting freelance opportunity for Theatre & Stage Crew in the vibrant city of Auckland. If you have a strong background in stage production, a keen eye for detail, and a love for bringing performances to life, this freelance role is perfect for you. As a Theatre & Stage Crew member, your skills and responsibilities will include: Stage Setup and Maintenance: Assist in the setup and construction of stage sets, props, and scenery according to the production requirements. Ensure the safe and efficient installation of stage elements, including lighting and sound equipment. Technical Support: Provide technical assistance during rehearsals, performances, and events. Assist with operating and maintaining lighting, sound, and other technical equipment to ensure optimal performance quality. Stage Management: Collaborate closely with the stage manager and production team to ensure smooth transitions between scenes and timely execution of cues. Assist with coordinating backstage activities and ensuring the readiness of props, costumes, and set changes. Equipment Handling: Safely handle and transport stage equipment, props, and scenery. Set up and dismantle equipment before and after performances, ensuring proper storage and maintenance. Safety and Risk Management: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for all crew members, actors, and production staff. Be familiar with emergency procedures and actively participate in safety drills and training. Problem Solving: Demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability to resolve technical issues that may arise during performances. Troubleshoot and address any equipment malfunctions or stage-related challenges efficiently and effectively. Rehearsal Support: Collaborate with actors and production staff during rehearsals to ensure smooth transitions and technical execution. Assist with cueing and coordinating actors' movements, scene changes, and prop placements. Attention to Detail: Pay meticulous attention to detail to maintain the integrity of the production. Ensure props, costumes, and set elements are in their designated places and properly functioning. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the production team, stage manager, actors, and other crew members to ensure effective communication and coordination. Follow directions and contribute ideas to enhance the overall performance experience. Flexibility and Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing theatrical environment. Be prepared to handle last-minute changes, unexpected challenges, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate performance schedules. Requirements: Previous experience in theater production, stage management, or technical theater. Knowledge of stagecraft, lighting, sound, and other technical aspects of theater production. Familiarity with stage equipment and tools, including rigging and operating lighting and sound systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and production plans. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in high-pressure situations. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high production standards. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by production schedules.
