Head of Client & Fund Accounting / Senior Manager

The Opportunity: Intertax Recruitment is a specialist recruitment agency working with a prestigious and well-established company in Gibraltar to appoint an experienced Head of Client & Fund Accounting / Senior Accounting Manager. The company is open to considering candidates from a range of relevant backgrounds. You could currently be working within fund or fiduciary accounting, financial services, public accounting/accountancy practice, or in a senior industry accounting role. Previous fund accounting experience would be advantageous, but candidates with strong technical accounting, client management and leadership experience from other environments are also encouraged to apply. The position will be predominantly onsite in Gibraltar, particularly given the leadership and team management responsibilities of the role, although there is flexibility within the working arrangement. Key Responsibilities:- Client & Company Accounting: • Manage and oversee a portfolio of corporate and other client entities. • Oversee the preparation and review of annual and management accounts. • Ensure financial reporting complies with relevant UK/Gibraltar GAAP and IFRS requirements. • Oversee corporate tax computations and related accounting requirements. • Act as a senior point of contact for clients and provide technical accounting guidance where required. Fund Accounting: • Oversee and review fund accounting activities. • Review NAV calculations, reconciliations and investment portfolio valuations. • Ensure the accuracy of fund accounting and reporting. • Support the accounting requirements of traditional and alternative investment structures. Financial Reporting: • Prepare and review financial statements and investor reporting. • Review accounting information prior to final sign-off. • Liaise with external auditors to ensure efficient completion of company and fund audits. • Work alongside compliance and other internal stakeholders regarding relevant regulatory reporting requirements. Technical & Operational Leadership: • Lead the preparation and review of financial statements under IFRS and Gibraltar GAAP. • Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, procedures and checklists. • Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance to the wider accounting team. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery. Digital Assets: Exposure to digital assets or cryptocurrency accounting would be beneficial but is not essential. The successful candidate may support companies or investment structures holding or trading digital assets and assist with the associated accounting and valuation requirements. Team Leadership: • Lead, mentor and develop members of the accounting team. • Oversee workloads and ensure appropriate allocation of client responsibilities. • Support recruitment, training and performance management. • Maintain high standards of client service and technical delivery. • Monitor departmental performance, including workload, billing and profitability. • Help create a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Candidate Profile:- We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have strong accounting experience combined with the ability to manage people, clients and competing priorities. Suitable backgrounds could include: • Fund accounting or fund administration • Fiduciary or corporate services • Public accounting / accountancy practice • Financial services • Family office or investment structures • Senior industry accounting or financial management positions • Client accounting or outsourced accounting environments You may currently hold a title such as: Senior Manager, Accounting Manager, Fund Accounting Manager, Senior Fund Accountant, Client Accounting Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Accounting Advisor, Audit/Accounting Senior Manager or similar. Qualifications & Experience:- Ideally you will have: • ACA, ACCA or another recognised professional accounting qualification. • Strong technical accounting knowledge. • Experience reviewing or preparing financial statements. • Previous people management or team leadership experience. • Strong client and stakeholder management skills. • A good understanding of accounting controls, processes and governance. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of Gibraltar financial regulations, fiduciary services, fund structures or Gibraltar taxation would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable experience from other jurisdictions or accounting environments will also be considered.
