Job Description
Are you looking to add a new direction to your career? Do you want to open a door to a new and lucrative platform? Are you motivated and quick to learn? Do you have good software development skills, and take pride in your work?
I'm one of the leading Roku developers in the Roku community, having created and worked on several popular open source projects, and contributed to other initiatives.
I work with huge clients and have more work than I can handle. I'm looking for someone to be my apprentice, and learn to make some of the best apps on the Roku platform.
You will earn money while learning the cutting edge techniques I use.
You will be creating Roku apps, using the modern brighterscript language I helped develop, using my open source maestro-roku framework and private code libraries I have developed.
You will work on client applications, open source tools and in-house tools.
if you are the right candidate, you will have many or all of the following:
- be self motivated
- be a good problem solver
- be a software engineer, not a coder or scripter
- know about object oriented architecture and design and software development principles
- have a degree in computer science, or equivalent self-study
- contribute to open source projects
- be a genuine person: no bullshit... you will communicate honestly and clearly with me, the clients, the community and yourself
- be great with tooling: both using and developing
- use npm, git, Linux and your ide, like a pro
- understand data structures
- know how to debug
- have a great level with typescript, JavaScript or c#
- have respect and humility; yet be bold enough to ask questions and suggest better ways to do things
- have video game programming experience or something else that taught you to respect memory usage and performance
- be fun and want to make the world a better place, yes: even with the small bit of the universe we get to play with, making software for Roku tvs.
This is a long term role, which will have room for growth and career development, for hungry and motivated applicants, plus plenty of flexibility so you can live your life, too, and have energy and enthusiasm for life as a whole.
