Fruit Identification: Develop knowledge of various fruit types, their growth patterns, and the optimal time for harvesting. Identify ripe fruits based on color, size, and texture, ensuring the highest quality yield. 2. Gentle Harvesting: Utilize proper picking techniques to pluck fruits without damaging the plants or neighboring fruits. Exercise care and precision to avoid bruising or crushing the delicate produce. 3. Quality Control: Maintain a keen eye for detail to assess the quality of harvested fruits. Follow predetermined standards set by the client to ensure only the finest produce reaches the market. 4. Efficient Sorting: Separate harvested fruits based on their size, ripeness, and other specified criteria. Package them meticulously according to client instructions, ensuring uniformity and proper handling. 5. Picking Equipment: Familiarize yourself with the tools required for fruit picking, such as clippers or shears, and ensure their safe and effective use. Adhere to proper tool maintenance and storage practices. 6. Productivity and Time Management: Work diligently to meet production targets and adhere to predetermined deadlines. Employ efficient time management skills to optimize productivity while maintaining quality standards. 7. Physical Stamina: Possess the physical endurance necessary for prolonged periods of standing, bending, and repetitive motions. Adapt to varying weather conditions and maintain productivity throughout the workday. 8. Teamwork and Collaboration: Foster a collaborative work environment by effectively communicating with fellow fruit pickers and farm staff. Share knowledge, support one another, and contribute to a positive and efficient work atmosphere. 9. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols set by the client and the farm. Prioritize personal safety by following proper handling techniques, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining cleanliness. 10. Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work variable hours, including early mornings, weekends, and potentially longer shifts during peak harvest periods. Adapt to changing weather conditions and farm requirements as necessary. Requirements: - Prior experience in fruit picking or related agricultural work is beneficial but not mandatory. - Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and lifting. - Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately. - Reliability, punctuality, and a positive work ethic. - Valid work permit or eligibility to work in Canada.
