Belaire Ferries have been proudly providing ferry services in the Auckland region for more than 15 years. Based out of the Hobsonville Marina, Belaire have grown from a single West Harbour ferry to our current fleet of four vessels providing comprehensive commuter services from Downtown to West Harbour and Rakino. With our focus on providing a quality service and an emphasis on safety and customer satisfaction, we have become an integral part of the communities in which we operate.
We are looking for an experienced deckhand to join our team. Our business is relatively constant all year round so we are looking for someone who wants to be a permanent part of our team.
Our fleet range from 12 to 21 meters and are surveyed for 49-149 passengers with the successful applicant being trained on them all.
Key Duties - Deckhand
• To assist the Master as required to safely operate, berth and secure the boats.
• Managing passengers to ensure safe and comfortable passage whilst meeting scheduled timetable.
• Selling tickets onboard vessels and answering passenger queries.
• Keep the vessels in a clean and tidy condition.
• A professional and friendly representative of Belaire Ferries and Auckland Transport.
Skills and Experience
The ideal applicant will have:
• Previous deckhand experience on vessels over 20m
• A current QDC ticket or equivalent experience (Preferred)
• Previous experience on high speed passenger ferry services
• Previous experience in roles dealing directly with passengers / customers.
• Relevant experience of similar size and style of vessels
• A friendly easy going attitude
• A dedication to providing a safe, reliable and friendly service.
