Job Description

Job Title: Data Centre Technician Location: Chelmsford, UK Employment Type: Full-time Responsibilities: Monitor and maintain data centre equipment, including servers, storage devices, and networking devices. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, escalate complex issues to senior technicians, and perform root cause analysis. Perform routine maintenance on data centre equipment, such as cleaning, patching, and updating firmware. Install and configure new servers, storage devices, and networking devices, including cabling and power management. Manage and maintain inventory of data centre equipment and spare parts. Adhere to data centre policies and procedures, including security, access control, and environmental controls. Work with other data centre staff to ensure 24/7 availability and uptime of critical systems. Skills: Strong knowledge of data centre hardware, including servers, storage devices, and networking devices. Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V. Experience with data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) tools, such as Nlyte or DCIMPro. Understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs. Knowledge of server operating systems, such as Windows Server and Linux. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work under pressure. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in a data centre technician or similar role.
