As an Arborist, you will have the following responsibilities:
Tree Maintenance and Pruning: Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess their health and structural integrity. Perform pruning, trimming, and shaping of trees to enhance their appearance, promote healthy growth, and ensure public safety. Utilize appropriate tools and techniques to remove dead, diseased, or hazardous branches.
Tree Removal and Stump Grinding: Safely and efficiently remove trees that pose a risk or are no longer viable. Utilize specialized equipment, such as chainsaws, rigging systems, and cranes, to safely fell and dismantle trees. Perform stump grinding to remove tree stumps and ensure a smooth and level ground surface.
Tree Planting and Transplanting: Select suitable tree species for specific locations based on environmental factors and urban planning considerations. Properly plant trees, ensuring proper root establishment and long-term health. Execute tree transplanting operations to relocate mature trees to new locations.
Tree Health Assessment and Disease Management: Conduct thorough tree health assessments to identify signs of disease, pests, or other stressors. Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including pest control measures, fertilization, and disease management strategies, to preserve tree health and vitality.
Climbing and Aerial Work: Utilize climbing techniques and equipment, such as harnesses and ropes, to access trees for pruning, maintenance, and removal tasks at various heights. Safely operate aerial work platforms, such as cherry pickers or cranes, when necessary.
Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation: Identify potential tree hazards, such as weak branches, root defects, or leaning trees, and take appropriate action to minimize risks. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and employ proper rigging and roping techniques to secure branches and equipment during tree work operations.
Tree Preservation and Conservation: Educate clients and the public on the importance of tree preservation and the benefits of urban forests. Provide guidance on proper tree care practices, including watering, mulching, and protecting trees during construction activities.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and inspect arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, climbing gear, chippers, and aerial work platforms. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as blade sharpening, lubrication, and equipment cleaning, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Requirements:
Qualified Arborist Certification or relevant arboricultural qualifications.
Extensive experience in tree maintenance, pruning, and removal.
Strong knowledge of tree species, growth patterns, and best management practices.
Proficiency in the safe operation of arboricultural equipment.
Climbing and aerial work expertise, including experience with harnesses and rigging.
Sound understanding of tree health assessment and disease management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work at heights.
Strong commitment to safety protocols and regulations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
